Car audio is and always has been a passion of mine. When I was young and a kid, my bedroom stereo was 4 10" subwoofers wired to 2ohms, I had 8 6.5 speakers around my room. I had that stereo all done up when I was in grade 7 or 8, and remember all my friends thought "wow that was a killer bedroom stereo". I even had a few of my friends asking to build them their stereos by the time I was in grade 9.
During that time me and my friends were really into home stereo systems. We also loved seeing and hearing the cars and trucks with loud systems. I remember going down to the installation shop and watching the installers do their work. I was fascinated by it. Nothing was hidden from customers because they were open to teaching young people in the trade.
When I got my first car at 16 years old, I had already installed two 6x9 in the rear and a pair of 6.5" front speakers, along with two 12" subwoofers on an alpine amplifier. We thought it was loud but always wanted it to be louder. My friends and I took all of the courses we possibly could that touched on the subject of mechanics and electronics.
